'natural' is the slipperiest word in the dictionary.
It often implies 'good' or 'the way things are meant to be'. This reinforces binary thinking by establishing a false contrast with 'unnatural'. Cognitive gymnasts contort ‘unnatural’ to dismiss things they dislike.
With this blog, I flip the script on such bad-faith arguments.
I apply ‘natural’ to undesirable aspects of the status-quo. This subverts shame.
I use ‘unnatural’ to refer to desirable things which will require deliberate effort to achieve/maintain.
I want this space to be an outlet for avant-garde ideas and curiosity.
